This is the place to ask questions, offer comments and suggestions, and to seek advice. We suggest you limit the messages here to genealogy-related topics (genealogy research, genealogy advice, DNA, online genealogy databases, software, and related topics.

Any off-topic messages (spam, profanity, derogatory comments, personal attacks, or non-genealogy-related topics) will be deleted. In other words, only post messages here if your mother would be proud of your words!

Our library is considering the purchase of a scanner that will scan oversize items such as blueprints or oversize photos and a machine to convert our microfilm to a digital format. Does anyone have any recommendations or can link me to any recent reviews on such equipment?

    Thanks,

    Joel Reese

You might check out The Best Scanners for 2020 on PCMag's web site at: https://www.pcmag.com/picks/the-best-scanners.

I find the PCMag reviews to be more trustworthy than most of the other so-called review sites that often turn out to be thinly-veiled advertisements.

I can't find any other place on the new website to ask this, but it is related to saved images:  I use Windows 10 and frequently use Print Scrn, which works well EXCEPT that it truncates an inch off both sides. Does anyone know how I could set it to save the entire screen image?

Hi Mr. Eastman. Thanks so much for this wonderful service. After years of lurking, I just became a Plus member to read your special posts and have already gleaned some gold! I notice that all the forum posts are marked "Anonymous," which make it difficult to follow the original posts and replies. I thought it might be a log-in problem on my end, so I logged out and used the password you sent and was able to log in successfully. However, all posts still show up as "Anonymous." Thinking you might need to make an adjustment on your end (and despising complaints without possible solutions), I found this on Wild Apricot: https://gethelp.wildapricot.com/en/articles/147. I think you just need to go into the global privacy settings and tick the "First name" option under the Anybody column to fix this. Cheers!
